This data is compiled from real estate records obtained from each county. The data is presented as-is and The News Journal makes no guarantee that information provided in the data is 100 percent accurate.

County records of home sales do not always identify the actual sale price on the deed, reflecting instead a nominal value such as $10 of consideration. The actual sale price can be obtained by identifying the realty transfer tax included on the property deed at the county courthouse, multiplying the total tax paid by 100, and dividing that sum by the combined state and local transfer tax rate (usually 3 to represent 3 percent).
